Thats true..everybody are bothered about EAD and FP. I am here for more than 8 years in this country. IV should emphasise this and USICS should allow affected candidates like us to file I-485 and atleast get EAD. we have priority date earlier compared to others.
I missed the date by just a week:( .Not sure what to do here . People on the forum seems to be concerned about Fingerprinting and getting EAD's only .
Same situation here too. My husband came to this country in 1999. Filed for greencard in 2004. Labor was sent to philly BEC and it got cleared in September 2007 so we too missed the window too. Not sure what to do

On a separate note, how can you start a thread demanding something from "IV" when you and few other people on this thread, stuck in backlog after 17th August, say that they don't want to volunteer for IV. Please explain why do you expect us to do all the work for you? If you aren't serious then please stop lamenting about your plight.
Join your state chapter and get involved, your active participation is what will strengthen IV and enable us to fix this issue.

I am wondering everybody here is throwing stones at small consulting companies, I wonder how these people came to US surely somebody did there H1? right? People are working in big companies HP/Oracle/SAP bla bla.. but I'm sure they are not the ones who brought you guys here. Also the day they'll get their green cards each of these people are going to open similar companies and do the same thing. This is amazing how people forget their past and forget the people who brought them here...I will call you guys thankless....

What is supplimentry exam? Is it that you did some extra courses after finishing your requisite courses for Bachelors? or are you refering to clearing your backlog subjects ( subjects from previous semesters that you had not cleared?). Where did you get your degree India or US?

I know after we file the i-485 for 180 days, we can change our jobs. But rule is that the new job should be in the same field as the old one.
Can i change my job from a biological researcher to a biostatistician? My current job is in the field of biology, which involves lots of experiments. If I change my job to a biostatistician, which is like a programmer, do i still qualify the "similar filed" rule? thanks for your help!

I applied on May18 for I-140 and will be applying to I485 soon.. and would get EAD...so what happens to EAD and AP...I cant beleive they are
waste..Probabaly people with pending I-140 will be subject to the new systems..??..what do you guys think??..Its not pratical to drive people down the Queue again..

I wanted to find about pre approved or pre adjudicated case, We have been hearing the same more often in the forum, so out of curiosity i opened a Service Request.
I kind of have a good relation ship with the former employer, worked with them for 4 years. I just called my company HR and he said he does not know my name is on withdrawn list but he will check the list and let me know tomorrow.
Take an infopass appt ASAP.
The officer in the local USCIS office will be able to give more details about your case.

Hi,
I am joining new job using AC21 provision coming monday. My new employer does not provide medical insurance for the first month. I am eligible for after I complete 1 month.
So my question is: till the time I get medical coverage from new employer (approx. 20 - 30 days), can I invoke COBRA? I heard that one can not invoke COBRA if he or she is employed (only meant for un-employement) is this true?
Also, should I call my current insurance company for COBRA now, or I can wait if I really need to visit a doctor? is there a grace period for this? Because there is a possiblity that I may never would have to visit a doctor for next 20-30 days, but who knows!
Appreciate your answers.

We can demand a purple card for any techworker who had worked and paid taxes and contributed to Social Security and medicare for three continuous years. This card should allow free travel and work permit for spouse. Give me a break! Do you know how many of these H1s procurred by the infosys / whatever will never be used during fy 08? you are right about demand and requirement etc, however, it should not be at the expense of other businesses. This policy of mass application is like getting an anticipatory bail that criminals rely on. Use it or not use it, either way you gain, right? I am not against infosys getting visas but am defenitely against mass visa applications by these and the head hunters. Why do you need middle men? are we going back to slave trading era? read the msn today and you will find an Indian couple (millionares) who kept slaves in their homes and are now behind bars. Watch the different forums and see how many complaints are comming up against the employers by software guys (not paying enough, not giving food, no paychecks for 10 months, threatening to fire /sue bla bla bla). Dont you feel sad when you read these?? I know people in software working on very very low salary. Why? think about it. Its time for the senators to really examine who claims all the H1s and I strongly support that. I even say that the H1 beneficieries salary should be linked to the INS in someway so that they immediately know when this person is not being paid or is laid off etc. Man, this is almost a mafia now.

2) "Otherwise approvable" Does this mean that these cases have PDs prior to current cutoffs ? Or are they just saying that the application can be approved but have to wait for a visa number when the PD becomes current?

However, prayers might be good only for that. What I say below is directed to people in general, and not to you. So, please don't get offended. I am not suggesting in any way that you are not making any concrete efforts to support IV.
I bet a lot of people are praying very very hard for their greencards.
I would like to request them to invest in concrete steps. Give monetary support to IV. Form, or join, a local state chapter. Go meet a lawmaker or his staff. Call them up and talk to their staff. Pray only if you have done all or some of the above. As they say, God helps those who help themselves. Keep up your end of the bargain, and then ask God (of the Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster, or whatever) for help.

2001 - LC cancelled by company because of 911. If company responded to RFE, Labor could have been certified.
2006 - Laid off while on 9th yr of H1
2007 - Back on H1 transfer
Spouse
1998 - H1B
2001 - Filed LC because my company cancelled LC
2003(Mar) - PD
2005(Sep) - LC approved
2005(Dec) - I-140 approved
2007(Apr) - Can file AOS/EAD now
The secret.....
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY. Nothing beats it.
To those who don't know, it took Noah 120 yrs. of faith and hope to built his arc when he was asked to, by Our Heavenly Father.

My EAD is pending in NSC for almost 2 months, Filed on June 9th (Efile), got fingerprint notice in June 3d week, done on Jul 8th. Nothing happened after that.
Since my dates are current (EB2 I, June 2005), I am just thinking they MAY aprove my 485 instead of EAD. Just a thought. What do you guys say?
