Explorer starts exploring google map and gets lost.:D
Its seems to be working fine on my explorer and Firefox.
It worked now after 2 days. I think my explorer settings need work. I don't know much about them

It is a feel good factor; you still want to be cynical, go right ahead, no one can take that away from you.
Yeah I get that the money will be transferred from the Social security system here to the Indian Govt system.
My point is it does not do a damn thing for us workers personally. That money will dissapear into a dark hole in the Indian Gov't coffers instead of a dark hole here, further as the rules stand, I have a slim chance of getting the money from here through social security payments when I turn 65 even if I am in India. Try that within the money in Indian gov't hands.
On the other hand, it makes the Indian gov't allign with corporate america, as they all have a vested interest in a Temp. worker program such as H1b absent green cards. Which will be a win win for all concerned except us.
So I repeat my question..................Why is this good again?

I don't think you should leave IV just because your 485 is approved and you are going to get the Green Card soon. IV has done lot for us and we should be supporting IV as long as we can.

Under the plan, announced yesterday by Emilio Gonzalez, director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the government would charge $905 -- up from $325 -- to apply for a green card or to adjust residency status. Immigrants with green cards would have to pay $595 to become naturalized citizens, a $265 increase. The cost of bringing a foreign fiance to the United States would more than double, to $455.
USCIS has long been plagued by an application backlog, slow processing by poorly trained personnel and an inability to track applications for people. The agency receives no money from Congress and passes on most costs to applicants. A highly critical 2004 Government Accountability Office report said that the agency's fees did not cover its costs.
Gonzalez said the increase would pay for better facilities, more workers and more training so that applications can be processed faster and by a more courteous and professional staff. He said the improvements would help USCIS cope with a guest-worker program should Congress approve some type of comprehensive immigration reform.
The fee increases will be published today in the Federal Register, beginning a two-month comment period. USCIS expects to process nearly 5 million applications in the 2008-2009 fiscal year.

i filed 485. now why should i care?

So, you are saying that you are irreplaceable? Dare to post your skillset? I bet I can find atleast 10 americans (resumes or candidates who are looking for a job) in 10 minutes time in your skill set. Wanna give it a shot?
If you are replaceable then you have false claimed in your application that no American is available for your job. It defeats your H1B and Green card application. America invites H1Bs and gives them greencards not because they are paying taxes but because employers prove no american is available for our job and we have unique skills for job. 'Best and Brightest' is we are and USA needs us. Without us the economy will be more bad.

What if you apply 485 on your own and then, employer fires you just because, you did not abide by his rule. What would happen in that case ? I guess, in most of the cases where employer is creating problem with 485 filing, ppl might not be wanting to go on their own due to above mentioned problem.

Ok, I've seen a lot of threads about go to the rally, actions items, I've reading a lot of guys saying dont ask for your receipt status, dont waste your time etc, etc.
Yes we did the rally we were great with all those signs, and appearing in the Indy TV but...
Question remains open:
1. When are they going to increase the GC quota?
2. When congress id going to do something?
I've the feeling that that's it we made our point but we are still with no GC, waiting receipts..............

Yesterday night at 9:00pm I got email from CRIS that they have issued RFE for me and my spouse.
The contents in the emails say -
"Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent"
Will have to wait and see what the RFE is about till we get it in postal mail.
Very curious about what the RFE is about. Have been with the same employer who sponsored the GC for last 5 years. PD in july 2004 , I140-EB2 approved approved in Nov 2006 and 2 July 2007 filer.
Did any RFE recently please post?

This is a very valid point. If employer or his lawyer asks more money in fees for filing I485 it is always better to go thro employer if he files I485 promptly. But if the delay is intention of the employer then use your own Lawyer.
Desi companies - HIGHLY ADVISABLE TO USE UR OWN LAWYER AND DONT LINK LAWYER AND EMPLOYER - THEY HAVE TENDENCIES TO BECOME BUDDIES BASED ON BUSINESS PROMISES.
TAKE ALL DOCUMENTS FROM EMPLOYER AND GIVE TO LAWYER. U MAINTAIN UPPER HAND WITH LAWYER.
485 RFE IS COMMON FOR EMPLOYER- LAWYER COMBO OF DESI COMPANIES.
Lawyer needs money and employer needs prolongation.
With rules changing and with CIR reintroduction and with Durbin Grassley amendments - Desi companies will be having tough business in future - they will try to retain consultants in whatever way possible. So beware. These people are sweet in their talk - but they do everything opposite to what they talk.
This maybe applicable to non desi companies also - this dates becoming current is an acid test for employer's genuinity.
So be cautious - watchful and get things done in smart way. 180 days down the lane the story is different.

As per the memo if the I-140 petition was approvable at the time of filing, one should be fine even if employer tries to withdraw unapproved I-140.
If there is an RFE, then sure things are messy if employer does not cooperate.
If you try to use AC21 without an approved I-140 your employer can withdraw the I-140 petition ( since it is not approved yet ) . So best wait a few months until it is approved and then merrily go the AC21 way

since there are many knowledgeable guys here ..I had another question - is there a law which says how the spillover should take place ? i.e. EB2(W) should go to EB2(I) etc ? I wonder why they don't send the extra visa's to the category that is in the worst position ..EB3 - I in this case ?
Only ROW EB3 spillover can make it to EB3 India and as ROW itself is retrogressed, that will not happen.
However, if you check 2007 assignments, Eb3 India got over 10K visas, though the stipulated limit is around 3K.
