Lawmakers decide to bring an issue for consideration and then vote on the bill. Immigration issues usually start in the immigration sub-committee, then go to Judiciary committee and are finally voted by all members. There are 535 lawmakers (100 Senators + 435 House members).
Most lawmaker offices have a staffer to handle immigration issues.
IV set up 150 lawmaker meetings. A staffer was appraised of EB immigration problems, solutions to prblems and requests for solutions. The staffer gave a business card for future contact. You contact staffer to discuss additional issues, request to bring EB issues for consideration, request lawmaker's vote when bill is being voted, ...
Ideally, IV would like to set up at least one meeting with every lawmaker and more meetings with some lawmakers (members of immigration subcommitee, ...). Due to limited participation, IV could set up only ~150 lawmaker meetings.

As for the Arizona law, immigration issues fall under the federal jurisdiction - so it is the State that is interfering with the fed agency.

This is what you can do - Both in Mumbai and in Delhi, you have USCIS approved doctors who help people going through CP. In other words those who choose to go through emp based CP or family based Green Card which US embassy issues, go through Indian hospitals in Mumbai and Delhi. Note that for employment based adjustment of status cases, the medicals ABSOLUTELY have to be done in the US by a USCIS approved civil surgeon. One can get the immunizations done in their home country, however the exam has to be done in the US.

Last year, my daughter's PIO card was processed in 1 day! No questions asked. I must say I have had the best experience with CGI houston so far.
I had also renewed by passport at SFO; and that too was processed in 2 weeks.
Dont forget that sometimes we ask the nerdiest questions to the consulate folks over & over again, even after a good explanation. I cant blame them for their attitude if they are at the receiving end.....
I think Meera Shankar needs to be fired. Its bloody 2010 and this is the kind of customer service the indian consulates provide - they dont pick up calls - it takes them a month to issue new passports - Always feel ashamed to be an indian any time I have to deal with these useless consulates.
The Houston consulate does not even have their address properly listed on their website.

No sir, I remember they provided them with lot of information, it's just that these 2 Senators want to kill H1B program, they had replied to him or not is immaterial..
Find the pdf with the questions he asked and compare to the answers they gave.
compare that with what happened with visa bulletin fiasco.
I think it was Zoe lofgren who sent a letter with very pointed questions to USCIS. I don't believe they made public their answer or if they answered it at all; and instead of fighting with Senator they reversed course and opened up the visa dates again. (A big part of me thinks that it was pure financial decision. USCIS was going to have fee increase and they realized that they would lose a lot of money but after they did their analysis; they realized their breakeven point was each candidate renewing ead/ap once and they would break even. They would even come out further ahead by allowing the applications because people would be renewing at least three times whereas in old fee structure it was only built in for one renewal).

My i-140 has been denied and waiting for notice...mostly it education and i filed under EB2 in TSC...
any input guys?????

You have two options:

2. Get a very detailed credit by credit evaluation of all the courses you did compared to a US bachelors. I have seen that in many schools in India, just by a 3 year diploma we complete all the credits for a US bachelors (some times even US Masters :) ). Exact credit hours, course description etc may be required in official form.

So this is actually 16 years of education overall and not 14 as suggested by other member. Sorry to ask, could you confirm this again, or did you mean to say 10+3+1? as you said this is accurate about what other member said.

As written previously, we have managed to get quite a lot of change done with minuscule funding, even though we haven't been able to afford the best people.
Maybe right now even achieved a bit more than the illegal immigration lobby.
How exactly do we do it? - Check Donor forum, where we get constant updates on our efforts in Washington DC.
Donations start at a one time of $25, even if that's the only thing you do all year.

The other common excuse is - "I really don't care, even if I don't get the GC, I can always find a job back home. Pay $1000 for my return flight. Just visiting... "

I am not underestimating the value of $300 per-year, but compared to the value that this is likely to drive, it is certainly an investment that can provide handsome returns.
I would rather NOT believe that most people here are with a free-loader mentality - waiting for others to fund and drive the momentum, while they just keep yapping about their problems and concerns about the situation, laws, regulations, illegals, employers etc. etc.
In my opinion people are missing the big picture of that if everyone contributed, there could be significant momentum that could be created - a $25 per-month contribution could lead to a $500K monthly lobbying fund - which is a non-trivial amount to drive our agenda.

This happened in 2007. USCIS conducts random audits on companies to verify their authenticity.
USCIS conducted an audit on his company. They fixed an appointment with him in his office. They asked all the tax returns, W2, Paystubs etc. They also talked to his client manager and verified his duties.
After that everything went fine. He works for the same employer now.

I do not unterstand why so many people here cry on others. You discuss about your problem and try to find ways to resolve. Everybody has to resolve their own issues first(let it be small or big). People in FP, EAD stage can not cry on people who already got GC or citizenship.
Thats true..everybody are bothered about EAD and FP. I am here for more than 8 years in this country. IV should emphasise this and USICS should allow affected candidates like us to file I-485 and atleast get EAD. we have priority date earlier compared to others.
