I am starting this thread for people to share some nice sweet memories about the rally.
This Part 1 is basically for "WHO MET WHO"
Most of us in these forums - we talked on phones for a long time and discussed a lot of topics - and we met each other in real at the rally.
I was excited - and I want to share some of my experiences.
Please post some experiences on this thread like mine below
I drove from New York with 5 other dedicated IV members ie tnite, tikka, siraviny, ps57002 and a new member Arun
At the Rally I met Niloufer(needhelp) and Vandana, drona and other volunteers at the registration desk and was nice to meet you all.
Then came paskal and gsc999 who stuck a badge on my shirt "chanduv23" and then I met Shivakanth, Vijay Anand and other folks.
After that I met Macaca - lovable guy, some core members like indio0617, ashish, tamsen.
Then I met pappu. As soon as I greeted him he stood up. I thought he was respecting me. I felt honored. But after a while - he was standing up to anyone who greets him. Then I figured out that was his habit - and no respect or whatever :D:D:D
Then met Abhijeet who was carrying his guiter and then jazzbythebay, janilsal and other folks and Jay and Aman and all core team members
Then I met all the Chinese friends in the NY chapter, Jane, Sophia and it was nice knowing them
I did miss out a few names - but overall I loved this experience of meeting you all the folks

there is nothing to sensationalise or freaking out . if you see the subsequent post and reading all relevant materials , you will understand that few are trying to keep CIR alive while many want it to be killed. Since i keep scourging to see if any new is available about the conference and have not seen the house clerk reporting the reciept of the CIR, i was just asking a question to find out if anyone had any news reading sobers post on blue slip, is some news......

Can IV create word document that can be emailed?
Similar to DREAM ACT. I have received responses to DREAM ACT from both congresswoman and senator that they will not support DREAM ACT.

My PD is Mar-04, RD=14Aug07
On USCIS status, it says.." On October 11, 2007, we received this I485..." .
Processing time for TSC is Aug07.. Does this mean my case will not processed now?
I am in same boat. Was your case transferred to EAC and then came back to TSC?

No news on EAD,
65 days and counting.
Got RFE on e-filed AP for my wife. They probably lost photos and asked for new set. Just shipped the reply and photos back to TSC.
Hope that triggers something.
Last time, I got couple of soft LUDs on 07/24; 07/25; 07/27 on all our EADs and APs. Wife's AP has hard LUD 08/05 (when they issued RFE) and soft LUD 08/06 (when RFE was mailed).
65 days and counting.

Indians including me (I am still on h1b thanks to retrogression completed 9 yrs in the US ) have this chalta hai attitude
and if it is not effecting me i dont care and dont want to know about it
for US Masters/Degree holders
they fall prey to the so called " DESI consulting companies " just as a last option and the moment they get a good offer they jump and also attending a US/Masters degree program for 2 yrs cant be a justification for "GOOD COMM SKILLS" I have seen MS guys talkin in vernac accent and I have no way of telling who is on h1b or a MS person "

As in my case, my PD, RD, ND and BD (BD aka Birth Day also :) ) all are well with in the current processing time frame and still waiting for the mercy of Lord USCIS.

You still do need your employer to give you one letter about your future employment. Other than that, you might have everything you need to file your 485 and employer's involvement is minimal.
If your 140 has not yet been filed, then you definitely need your employer's involvement and in that case, firing your lawyer hired by your employer might actually cause more delay because you will have to do a lot of co-ordination on your own with employer and your new lawyer. Getting 140 filed without lawyer is probably very tough. So self-filing of 485 makes sense mostly for those who have approved 140.
Although I used my lawyer to file my I-485 ( My date was current in June and I submitted all my papers to my lawyer on May 20th and actually it was filed on 27th June), I also prepared I-485/ead application myself over the weekend and when I compare this application with lawyer's, mine was more accurate because lawyer mad small mistake in my address.
Anybody who follow this thread can prepare the application by him/herself.

"Real", "Worked hard", "law abiding" - done my masters and PhD - I know how people get through. Waa re waa - demanding "justice" - you are just plain jealous of other smart people. Guess its time somebody told you, just because you have a MS or a PhD doesn't make you smarter by default. Even if it did, doesn't mean you get everything first - teenagers behave better than that :) Time to grow up

I know that females are disproportionately represented in these forums - even so.........I would like to see more women participate. Going forward, I will give $10 towards even female who signs up (upto 10 memberships). If you cannot find company, exercise with a cell phone and pepper spray on you.

Some one in Kennedy's office is hell bent on getting rid of paragraph (5) in there....
paragraph (5) is the one that gave us the 'soft' country limits...
Here is the law text....

(B) Limiting fall across for certain countries subject to subsection (e) of this section
In the case of a foreign state or dependent area to which subsection (e) of this section applies, if the total number of visas issued under section 1153 (b) of this title exceeds the maximum number of visas that may be made available to immigrants of the state or area under section 1153 (b) of this title consistent with subsection (e) of this section (determined without regard to this paragraph), in applying subsection (e) of this section all visas shall be deemed to have been required for the classes of aliens specified in section 1153 (b) of this title.
